Junior Material Engineer

From our regional headquarters based in Zaventem (Brussels area), our team ensures the development and supports manufacturing of high-quality car interior components.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of materials together with the material suppliers when original materials do not satisfy the cost and product performance requirements.
  • Conduct or supervise evaluations on materials and finished products at prototype stage and with first-off tool parts in order to ensure that the material requirements and performance of parts are satisfied.
  • Material selection for in-house production parts of EA region for new projects. Materials to be worked on are mainly adhesives, plastics and skin materials.
  • Material confirmation for supplier parts of EA region plants’ new projects.
  • Support serial production on analysis and countermeasure development for material related problems and customer claims.
  • Investigate, analyze and work on material related cost reduction proposals of EA region production plants. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or master degree in material, chemical, polymer or metallurgical engineering.
  • You have strong analytical skills.
  • You have strong communication & reporting skills.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You are flexible to travel abroad frequently during week days (10% -30% of the working time).
  • You have a valid driving license.

Requirements

  • Higher education preferably an Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical,…) or equivalent through experience
  • Ideally max 3 years of experience within the quality division in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Excellent interpersonal & argumentation skills with the ability to interact effectively throughout various functional groups and hierarchical levels
  • Willing to travel frequently (±25%) – during the workweek (Weekends are usually spent at home) to plants in the Europe-Africa region
  • Knowledge of English at a Business Proficiency level
  • Personality: analytical, fact driven, assertive, curious mind, solution oriented, convincing, ‘can do’ attitude, hands-on mindset
  • Team player
  • Ability to train and inspire people
  • Language skills: Proficient knowledge of English is a must, other languages (French, Japanese, Polish, Turkish…) are an asset.
  • Good MS Office skills
  • Driving license is required
